The capital city, Kathmandu is enriched with temples more than homes and festivals exceeding the number of days in a year. Kathmandu attracts visitors from across the nation and abroad and it is always bustling with hordes of tourists all year round. With the passing years, more and more people from other parts of world are getting attracted towards the myriad beauty and attractions available in Kathmandu as the city deliver an array of unexpected delights. Kathmandu is a fascinating old city today where pagodas, narrow cobbled lanes, old carved windows, and stone shrines are backdrops to the drama of life that continues unhindered. It has also been described variously as "Land of Gods" and as "land of the largest congregations of magnificent historical monuments and shrines ever built". Patan also known as ‘Lalitpur’ literally, the City of Artisans, lies 5km southeast of Kathmandu, and is home to the valley’s finest craftsmen who preserve ancient techniques such as repoussé and the lost wax process, still producing exquisite pieces of sculpture. Situated 14km east of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur ancient city retains the charming paved roads, red brick houses and a way of life that goes back to medieval times.
