Flush tourists trigger growth of luxury hotels in Chitwan

CHITWAN: With an upsurge in the number of domestic and foreign tourists in Chitwan, many tourism entrepreneurs have shown interest in building top-class hotels and resorts in the district.

Over the past one and a half years, Kasara Resort, equipped with luxury amenities, has come into operation. Investors from Yeti Group—Sonam Sherpa, Ang Chhiring Sherpa and RP Pant have collaboratively invested Rs 400 million in the resort. Of 43 residential rooms in the resort, 35 are deluxe while two others have been designed for honeymoon couples.

The honeymoon suites besides boasting an attached swimming pool, incorporate a separate kitchen, a lobby that is completely isolated from the outside environment.

Kasara that expands in 4 bigahas of land employs 65 people. “As the location provides the natural essence, it is suitable for the visitors,” claims RP Pant, one of the investors. He added that the resort could provide as an alternative for accommodation to the visitors at a time when similar facilities inside the resort have been closed.

Kasara has been built in traditional design, using local resources including cow dung. A garden prepared with an investment of Rs 20 million is one of the highlights of the resort. It blooms with 35 different flowers, fruit orchards. A helipad service is another attraction which has been catering to the growing number of high-end guests to visit the place in the recent days, according to the resort management. The resort also owns five elephants to serve the visitors.

“We’ve always stressed on quality service and it has attracted a continuous flow of the visitors since the resort started its operations,” said Sagar Paudel, public relation officer at the resort.

As well as site-seeing facility from the rooms, the resort extends other services like meeting hall, spa and meditation on demand.

Jungle Villa Resort is another place of attraction for discerning visitors to the area. Built at the cost of Rs 200 million, the resort spreads over five bighas of land on the banks of Rapti River.

Ganesh Sharma Paudel, one of the investors, said they built the 30-room property in the flood-affected area. The resort let the visitors enjoy the site-seeing within its compound with the Tharu culture. The resort employs 48 people.
