Mohit Chauhan, live in Kathmandu

News

From Rang De Basanti’s heartbreaking Khoon Chala to Barfi!’s light-hearted A la Barfi, Mohit Chauhan has lent his voice to some of the most popular and moving songs that have come out of  Bollywood. The singer, who started his career in music as front-man of the Indipop band Silk Route, does not need much of an introduction in much of the subcontinent. Who doesn’t recall such greats as Tum Ho (from Rockstar) and Masakkali (from Delhi 6), or Dooba Dooba from Chauhan’s debut album Boondein, and who could forget the mellifluous voice that brought these songs to life?

Audiences here in Kathmandu will get a chance to witness the singer perform live as he takes centre stage at ‘Rockstar in Nepal—Mohit Chauhan Live,’ a concert set to transform Tundikhel into a grand performance venue on November 30. “I am basically a globletrotter now, with all the concerts that I do in many places around the world,” the singer had once stated in an interview, and it is perhaps in this globetrotting spirit that he has chosen to come to Nepal and give his fans here a chance to see him in the flesh.

Concert-goers will be in for a real treat as Chauhan is one of the most successful singers to come out of Bollywood in recent times. He has won two Filmfare Awards for best male playback singer—in 2010 for Delhi-6 and again in 2012 for Rockstar—and is said to be among AR Rahman’s favourite voices. His Facebook fan following, at 2.6 million, is certainly massive, and more importantly, his songs never disappoint.

His November-end concert in Kathmandu promises to deliver great music and memorable performances (we could expect nothing less from the singer) for Nepali crowds. The Nepalese Army Wives Association, organisers of the event, hope to entertain a fabulous group of music enthusiasts, and event management and promotion agency The Premiere Events are making it a point to ensure the Mohit Chauhan concert will be one to remember.

Tickets are Rs 5000 (VVIP, with seats), Rs 2500 (platinum), Rs 1500 (gold), RS 1000 (silver) and Rs 500 (bronze). Contact 9818842177 for details
