Chaturmaidanda now Coffeedanda

News

Dhading: Until a few years back, Chaturmaidanda of Nalang in Siddhalek Rural Municipality, Dhading, was uninhabited and deserted as it lacked drinking water and irrigation facility. However, Chaturmaidanda has changed its identity as it has now become popular as Coffeedanda.

For want of water sources, it was very hard to support human settlement and grow crops at this place. But, the same place has now become one of the major tourist destinations of Dhading.

Seven years back, if somebody talked about developing Chaturmaidanda as a tourist destination, people would mock him or her. At present, the place has amazing coffee farming and a resort that can cast a spell on anyone.

Tourism entrepreneur Dinanath Regmi started coffee farming from his company Himalayan Ontop Organic Coffee Estate Private Limited at Chaturmaidanda.

As coffee farming grew, the place came to be known as Coffeedanda.

“I have plans to plant new coffee every year and increase the rate of production every year,” Regmi said, adding, “Of the 52,000 coffee saplings planted, I have started earning income from 18,000.”

Regmi operates a coffee resort inside the coffee farm. “I have invested Rs 80 million in planting coffee and establishing the resort,” Regmi added. Many domestic and foreign tourists come to stay at night at the resort and take a tour around the farm.

Coffee farm and resort have provided jobs to local people.  As many as 17 residential employees are working at the farm and the resort.
