Nepal International Trade Fair 2015

The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry ( FNCCI ) is scheduled to hold the fourth Nepal International Trade Fair from March 12 at Bhrikuti Mandap.The five-day event will contain more than 300 stalls representing national and international traders, the organizer said. Around 50 percent of the booths have been set aside for international traders. The FNCCI said that 200 stalls had been booked so far.

The fair will have a national pavilion showcasing handicrafts, IT products, agro products, hydropower, construction materials, education, pharmaceuticals, iron and steel and other products.

Similarly, companies from India, China, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Taiwan and the US will be exhibiting their products and services at the international pavilion. A wide range of products like garments, leather products, food items, furniture, automobiles, fashion wear and decorative items will be on display.

According to the organiser, priority will be accorded to stalls of firms producing herbal products and women entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, seminars, talk programmes on various topics, a platform for business to business (B2B) links, skill transfer between Nepali and international participants will be held on the sidelines of the expo. The organiser has expected 200,000 visitors to attend the event.

FNCCI President Pradip Jung Pandey said the fair aimed to promote Nepali products in the international market and make them recognizable as exportable items. “As the number of foreign investors in Nepal is rising, we think Nepali products and services will attract their attention which will boost foreign investment further.

He added that the FNCCI had been organising various fairs at the regional and district levels to promote local products. “We have held fairs in 15 districts in association with the district chambers, and eight more events will be held this month,” said Pandey, adding that these fairs had been very helpful in promoting and marketing local products. Last year, there were 123,000 domestic and 2,200 foreign visitors to the Nepal International Trade Fair. The expo had witnessed business transactions of Rs 150 million.
