Annapurna trekking route not affected by earthquake

LAMJUNG: Though the April 25 great earthquake and recurring aftershocks partially damaged some parts of Manang district, Annapurna Circuit, the world- famous trekking trail in northern Nepal has not suffered any damage.

Devendra Lamichhane, Chief District Officer of Manang, claimed that the Annapurna Circuit did not sustain any damages in the earthquake.

Saying that the trekking trial has not sustained any damages yet, he urged the concerned authorities to create conducive environment so that the domestic and international tourists could visit the area without fear.

With the terror of the earthquake, the tourist season for this year has been ended, Lamichhane informed. But, the upcoming tourist season could be hampered due to false romours, he added.

Earlier, some of the media had reported that the Annapurna Circuit has also suffered damages due to the April 25 mega earthquake.

Informing that the circuit has not suffered any damages in the earthquake, tourism entrepreneurs urged the domestic and international tourists to visit the area without any fear.

It has been learnt that as many as 200 tourists used to visit the area every day before the powerful jolt.

It takes two weeks time to cover the whole Annnapur Circuit.
