Reviving tourism is high priority- PM Koirala

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said that the government has given high priority to the tourism sector as it is the foundation of nation development.

While receiving the relief assistance provided by the Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) at his official residence at Baluwatar on Saturday, PM Koirala said that the government was ready to assist the tourism entrepreneurs.

The HAN has provided Rs 1.5 million to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund, said HAN chairman BK Shrestha.

Chair Shrestha added that the tourism sector is facing crisis after a massive earthquake that shook the nation on April 25 and several aftershocks. He suggested calling a meeting of the Tourism Council headed by the Prime Minister instantly to address the problem of the tourism sectors.

Similarly, the HAN chair Shrestha pointed out the need of appointing a capable leadership in the Tourism Board and Nepal Airlines Corporation.

Meanwhile, HAN is scheduled to distribute reliefs to about 600 families of quake victims at Nagarkot and Sankhu.
