News

Hoteliers have sought result-oriented tourism promotional programs of national and international level from the government side.

A delegation of Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) on Wednesday met with Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhim Acharya and briefed the latter about the growing serving capacity of the Nepali hospitality sector. BK Shrestha, president of HAN, informed Minister Acharya about the upcoming five-star hotels in the country.

Speaking at the meeting, Prasidhdha Bahadur Pandey, former president of HAN, requested Minister Acharya to do the needful for restructuring of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) to eliminate deep-rooted problems in the board. “The government and the private sector should forge meaningful partnership for tourism promotion through NTB,” added Pandey.

Responding the issues raised by the HAN, Minister Acharya said the government was ready to join hand with the private sector for tourism promotion.

“Hotel sector is the backbone of tourism industry and the government is satisfied with the growing investment in this sector,” Acharya said, adding “The government will try its best to address the issues raised by tourism entrepreneurs in the upcoming budget.”
