Tourism entrepreneurs complain of NTB weaknesses

DUBAI: Entrepreneurs have complained that the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) failed to collaborate with private sector for the promotion of tourism of Nepal in the international arena.

Entrepreneurs participating in the semi-annual general meeting of the Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) that concluded in the UAE on Sunday, blamed the NTB for failing to make publicity of Nepal in international arena and attracting tourists.

On the occasion, President of HAN, Shyam Sundar Lal Kakshyapati, argued that the NTB could not incorporate the private sector for tourism development of Nepal on the basis of Public Private Partnership (PPA).

He said HAN has launched a publicity campaign by focusing the UAE, which has been the most attractive destination for tourists, from out of the gulf countries.

Similarly, HAN General Secretary, Amarman Shakya, said that there was no improvement in arrival of tourists in Nepal as per the expectation due to lack of sufficient publicity in international arena.

On the occasion, HAN Treasurer, Abhishek Shrestha, presented income and expenditure of HAN and executive member of HAN, Praveen Bahadur Pandey, argued that the NTB could not made remarkable contribution in tourism promotion sector.

A memorial published by HAN was also released on the occasion.
