Sauraha to have its first star-rated hotel

Chitwan:A two-star hotel with a mini casino is being built for the first time in a famous tourist destination Sauraha with an objective to attract more visitors. The hotel named ´Seven Star´ established with an investment of Rs 150 million will come into operation from September.

Madhav Duwadi, a real estate businessman and his friend Nurdev Prasad Kandel are the promoters of the hotel with 48 rooms and four suites with Jacuzzi facility.

“Though Sauarha, a famous tourist destination has more than hundred hotels and resorts, none of them had been classified as a star hotel till date,” said Duwadi, adding the hotel can accommodate around 100 people at a time.

Though the finishing touches are being given to the hotel, the mini casino named ´Happy Hour´ has already come into operation.
According to Duwadi, Sanjay Lama, proprietor of Happy Hour has taken the space on rent and pays Rs 70,000 a month.
This is the first time casino has been opened in Sauraha, he added.

Though a new government regulation does not permit the Nepalis inside the casinos, Duwadi said that he is confident that the casino can make profit from the international visitors as Sauraha is a famous destination for both domestic as well as international tourists.
The seminar hall of the hotel has the capacity to accommodate 600 people.

“We have been facing the problem of good seminar hall in Sauaraha. Now both the governmental as well as the non-governmental organizations can host seminars and conferences in Sauraha,” said Duwadi.
The hotel rooms have been furnished with furniture imported from China. The hotel has fixed the tariff of the deluxe rooms with air conditioner at Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000.
Likewise, for a suite room, guests have to pay Rs 10,000.

The hotel also has a swimming pool, and Duwadi said that it could be an attraction for the people to stay at the hotel as Sauraha is a hot place. Besides, the hotel spread across 20 ropanis of land has enough parking space and beautiful gardens.
“We are planning to tie up with international agencies to bring in more international tourists to our hotel and this will help promote our hotel internationally,” added Duwadi.
