Everest Nepal fair kicks off in Tokyo

The Everest Nepal Exhibition kicked off in Tokyo, Japan on Saturday amidst a special function held at the famous Tokyo Tower.

The two-day event organized by the embassy of Nepal in Tokyo with active support from various organizations, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Japan, and Non-Resident Nepalese Association Japan Chapter commemorates the diamond jubilee of the first ascent of the Mount Everest.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ram Kumar Shrestha and the oldest person ever to climb the Mount Everest Yuichiro Miura jointly inaugurated the function.
Addressing the function, Minister Shrestha highlighted the importance of sustained mountain development and the Nepal government´s efforts to promote tourism in Nepal. He also thanked Japan for the continued support to the socio-economic development of Nepal.

The observance of the 60th anniversary of the ascent of the Mount Everest has special significance in Japan as Japanese have remained popular for the conquest of the world´s tallest mountain for the last six decades.

On the occasion, mountaineer Yuichiro Miura thanked the organizer for the felicitation and recalled his recent mountaineering experience while climbing atop the Mount Everest. He praised the dedication and support of Nepali people and in particular Sherpas for their immense contribution to mountaineering in Nepal.

While welcoming the guests, Nepali ambassador to Japan Madan Kumar Bhattarai highlighted the importance of event and said that the government of Nepal was keen on developing sustainable tourism in Nepal.

According to the Nepali embassy in Tokyo, among other things, the event showcases Nepali products, travel mart, and taste of Nepal for Japanese friends and climbing tower.
