Baglung hotels improve services

Baglung: Hoteliers in Baglung have started pouring in more money to develop infrastructure and improve services with the rise in tourist flow in the district.

Hotel Peace Palace, which has 70-guest capacity, has invested Rs 10 million to build new rooms to accommodate 30 additional guests.
"I have built new rooms with attached bathrooms," Nilesh Rajbhandari, proprietor of the hotel, said.

Rajbhandari said some of the rooms in his hotel have air conditioners as well. "We have developed deluxe rooms for the first time," he said.

Entrepreneurs are taking the initiative to improve hotel facilities after tourists started travelling to Pokhara for overnight stay.

"We want to domestic as well as foreign tourists to stay in Baglung for a longer period," Rajbhandari said. "We have also developed various packages for tourists who come to Baglung." These packages include trips to Parvat, Myagdi and Mustang districts as well.

But these improvements have also raised food prices and room rates in Baglung by as much as 100 percent.
