Silver Jubilee Rafting Festival 2013 on May 25

As a part of celebrating its silver jubilee, Nepal Association of Rafting Agents (NARA) is organizing ´Silver Jubilee Rafting Festival -2013´ on May 25.

At a press meet organized here on Sunday, Nanikaji Thapa, president of NARA, said the event would promote Nepal as an adventure tourism destination.

The rafting will be organized on Belkhu Bridget to Malekhu section of Trishuli River. The association is expecting participation of around 700 people, including foreign tourists. It has priced ticket for the event at Rs 2,50 per person which includes transportation, rafting and lunch. NARA has been organizing rafting festival every year in May.

"We are very careful regarding safety and security of the rafters," Thapa said, adding, "We will brief safety measures to all the participants before they start rafting." He further added that kayaks and rescue teams will be kept standby at different places.

Though NARA does not have authentic data about the number of rafters in the country, it is estimated that around 20 to 22 percent of the foreign tourists visiting Nepal go on river trips
