Pokhara-Sauraha tourist bus service begins Tuesday

Pokhara: A leading travel agency based in Pokhara is starting tourist bus service between Pokhara and Sauraha - two popular tourist destinations in the country - from Tuesday.

Mountain Overland Tours and Travels is operating comfortable Internet-enabled buses on the route.

Som Thapa, one of the promoters of the travel agency, said the service is being launched targeting foreign and domestic tourists visiting Chitwan and Pokhara.

The buses will depart from Tourist Bus Park in Pokhara and Sauraha of Chitwan.

“We will launch the service by flagging off the bus from Pokhara on Tuesday. Two-way service will start from Wednesday,” Thapa told media persons here on Monday.

The company has set one-way fare at US$ 17 for foreigner and Rs 950 for Nepalis. “The fare includes lunch, mineral water, newspaper and Internet service,” said Thapa.

Angi Kandel, another promoter of the company, said they have plans to operate tourist buses between Pokhara and Lumibini as well.

At present, people traveling on Pokhra-Chitwan and Pokhara-Lumbini are not getting comfortable service due to syndicate system imposed by transporters.

Tikaram Sapkota, board member of Nepal Tourism Board said, the launch of direct bus service will be instrumental in increasing the number of tourists to both the tourist destinations. “It will help develop Pokhara as a tourist hub of the country,” he added.
