NTB forms team to select CEO

Board members of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) have finally formed a sub-committee to select a new chief executive. The board meeting on Monday decided to form a committee comprising of board members Dhurba Narayan Shrestha and Phurba Gyalzen Sherpa, that will proceed with the CEO selection process.

“The committee has 21 days to submit a report after a thorough review and appraisal of the 12 shortlisted candidates,” said Shrestha.

NTB has been without a CEO for more than a year due to lack of coordination among board members and repeated legal hassles. Its board was even unable to form a sub-committee for the selection process since a long time. After the expiry of then CEO Prachanda Man Shrestha’s tenure in October-end, 2011, NTB has not been able to appoint another CEO in the last 15 months.

“Earlier, the sub-committee was supposed to comprise of three members but this meeting decided to give the responsibility to us two,” said Shrestha, adding final selection will be undertaken by the board on the recommendation of the sub-committee. Back in February, NTB had issued a general notice and asked its board members to form a sub-committee.
