Shesh Ghale partners with Sheraton to open 5-star hotel in Nepal

Shesh Ghale, the Australia-based Nepali millionaire businessman, has entered into joint venture with Sheraton to operate a five-star hotel in Kathmandu.

An agreement, in this regard, has been signed between Ghale´s MIT Group Holdings Nepal and Sheraton Hotel chain operator Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Incorporate, said a statement issued by Sheraton Group on Monday.

As per the agreement, 225-room Sheraton Kathmandu Hotel will come into operation at Kantipath in Kathmandu by 2018, according to e-Travel Blackboard Asia.

Starwood´s legacy in South Asia dates back to 1973. It currently operates 34 hotels with 24 hotels in the pipeline. It aims to operate or sign management contracts for operation of 100 hotels by 2015.

“We continue to look for opportunities to grow Starwood´s brands in South Asia and are delighted to announce the signing of the Sheraton Kathmandu Hotel, strengthening Starwood´s footprint in South Asia,” said Nikhil Manchharam, vice president, Acquisitions and Development, Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts.

“We are delighted to raise the Sheraton flag at our hotel, where we will offer Sheraton brand´s recently enhanced amenities and services in a great location in Kathmandu,” said Ghale, CEO of MIT Group Holdings Nepal.

With increased demand and a strong affinity for international branded hotels, Ghale further said, Sheraton Kathmandu Hotel will be a highly anticipated addition to the city of Kathmandu.

The statement said all rooms will be exquisitely designed, offering a full range of amenities, including the plush, all-white Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed, designed using the AAA Five Diamond Award criteria, high-speed Internet access, and luxurious bath and body products, among others.

“The hotel will have a spa and a swimming pool, and guests can keep fit through the brand´s revolutionary new health and fitness program,” the statement added.

The hotel will offer four food and beverage venues, a signature venue and specialty restaurants. The hotel will also house 16,500 sq ft of meeting space, a well equipped business center and the Sheraton Club.
