Bibaha Panchami today

Janakpur: Bibaha Panchami festival, a religious festival among Hindu people, is celebrated across the country with zeal on Monday.

Locals and pilgrims who arrived from different parts of the country and from India to Janakpur have been celebrating the festival with great excitement.

Some 500,000 devotees have gathered at the premises of Janaki temple to observe the festival this year.

According to Hindu religion, Shree Ram, the prince of Ayodhya married Sita, the daughter of King Janak in Janakpur on this day in Treta Yug. Since then, people have been celebrating the day as Bibaha Panchami festival.

Wedding processions of Ram and Sita will reach the historic Janaki Temple in the evening today. Going by tradition, the wedding of Ram and Sita will be held at Janaki temple tonight.

The festival is quite popular in Tarai region.
