Thamel fest kicks off

A two-day street festival kicked off in Thamel on Saturday. CNN Hero 2012 Pushpa Basnet inaugurated the festival organised by the Thamel Tourism Development Council.

Organised with an aim to attract both domestic and foreign tourists to visit Thamel and the surrounding areas, the festival will feature cultural programmes, various food stalls and local costumes. It is said that tourist arrivals in Thamel has been registering a sustained positive growth. Meanwhile, the council felicitated Basnet for being this year’s CNN Hero and doing Nepal proud.
