Festive season: Domestic tourists throng Begnas

Lekhnath: The trend of visiting different places during the festive season has been increasing. Pokhara and its adjoining areas are among other several tourist destinations where domestic tourists are coming in their hordes.

The places around Begnas Lake, Sundaridanda, Sickles, Tangting, Fewa Lake, Pame and Annapurna trekking route are now receiving an increasing number of visitors. Those who come to see the lake city are also journeying Ghalegaun of Lamjung, Bandipur of Tanahu, Gorkha Palace, Kalika temple of Baglung, Shirubari of Syangja and High Altitude Bridge in Parbat.

Interestingly, even travel-shy people are stopping over in Pokhara , cashing in on their leisure time. Surendra Regmi of Bansbari, Kathmandu, is also among many travellers who like to hang out in Pokhara during Dashain. He along with his childhood friends is on Begnas tour after a brief sojourn in Bandipur. Travelling with friends, according to Regmi, is like bathing in reflected glory.

Like Regmi and his colleagues, many people have been descending on Begnas Taal. Not only professional people like writers and journalists, many teenagers have been lured by Pokhara and its adjoining areas. According to tourism entrepreneurs, internal tourism has started taking an upturn in Kaski over the last two years. Narayan Sapkota, president of the Pokhara chapter of Trekking Agency Association of Nepal, said domestic visitors have been increased by 10 percent this year.
